For small-scale food businesses with an annual turnover not exceeding ₹12 Lakhs (or production capacity up to 100 kg/liters per day), FSSAI Basic Registration (Form A) is mandatory. Carrying on food operations without FSSAI registration attracts imprisonment of up to 6 months and fines up to ₹5 Lakh under Section 63.
